The Sweep is Complete: Lakers Flying High!

In a game full of questionable calls (that just happened to go the Lakers way), the Lakers managed to defeat the Denver Nuggets in the mile high city to complete the relatively easy sweep 4-0.

I am a dedicated Lakers fan, so don't take this the wrong when I say this, but the Lakers got away with murder in this game. Every single call the refs made in the game went the Lakers way regardless of what the Lakers did. Kobe Bryant and the rest of the boys played a good game, Kobe came in clutch as usual scoring 31 points and taking over in the 4th, but it was almost as if the refs were paid off as every single ticky-tac call was made against the Nuggets and the Lakers could just butcher anybody on the Nuggets that foolishly decided to drive in the lane.

Like I said, Kobe had a solid performance down the stretch, but those calls were really questionable.

Anyways, it was obvious that Allen Iverson and his boys couldn't match up with the Lakers who were without question the better team and I think that after this embarrassing 1st round ass kicking, the Denver Nuggets are going to look a lot different next season, starting with George Karl getting the boot.

I think Karl will be the first to go because it was painfully obvious that he couldn't motivate, control or whip these boys into shape in anyway throughout this series, so if I were him I would either call it quits or start interviewing for some of the vacant coaching spots around the NBA.

Secondly, Allen Iverson will be a free agent next season, I don't no the full details of his current contract, but I know he isn't a restricted free agent and if he had any sense he might want to start shopping around for another team with some championship aspirations like Sam Cassell did by going to the Boston Celtics.

Lastly, the Nuggets as of right now are a very talented team with championship type talent, but much like the Portland Trailblazers of old, there are just too many egos, too many tattoos and not enough maturity or desire to actually win a championship so I can guarantee that something drastic will happen over the off season for the troubled Nuggets.

As for the Lakers, they should be riding high as they are the only team that has been able to sweep their opponent in the 1st round of this year's playoffs, in fact they are the only team to ever sweep an opponent in the 1st round that won 50 games in the regular season.

Now it will just be a waiting game as the Lakers will be watching the Utah Jazz vs. Houston Rockets series to see who is their next victim, most likely the Jazz, but if you have been watching some of the other playoff series (like Celtics vs. Hawks or Pistons vs. 76ers) then you know anything can happen!

The Lakers will probably face the Jazz in the next round. yeah, crazy things are happening, the Hawks are now tied with the Celtics and the 76ers look really good. But I still think the Jazz will close out the Rockets.
