NBA Playoffs: Lakers Will Face the Denver Nuggets in the 1st Round

After a couple of weeks of uncertainty the Lakers will face AI, Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

I think out of all the possible match ups (Dallas, Golden State and Denver) that the Lakers lucked out by ending up by facing the Nuggets who were sweep in the season series 3-0 against the Lakers.

The Lakers match up pretty well with the Nuggets, but there is no doubting the fact that individually the Nuggets have some very talented players like Allen Iverson, Carmelo Anthony, Marcus Camby and Kenyon Martin who can cause some problems for the Lakers. Chances are the Lakers will probably take the series pretty convincingly with a sweep or one loss, but with Allen Iverson and Carmelo leading the way and playing team basketball, the Nuggets will not just lay down for the Lakers.

The biggest weakness for Denver is the point guard position which hasn't had a solid starter since Andre Miller before the Iverson trade last season. Anthony Carter is not a bad point guard, but no match for the Lakers Derek Fisher and Jordan Farmar.

All and all, this should be an entertaining 7 game series, I don't think it will go 7 games, but the way this season has been, you never know.
